BBC TV presenter breaks silence after awkward on-air moment

Who among us hasn’t been a little late to work? Many would say that 10 minutes isn’t even considered late.
But unfortunately for BBC presenter Alice Bhandhukravi, if she is late then not only will her colleagues know, but so will viewers all over the world.
The TV presenter was captured rushing to her seat as the BBC jingle played, trying to stay calm and composed as she settled into her seat.

She gave a bright smile before greeting viewers with “Good evening” and launching to a report about the housing crisis.
But keen-eyed viewers didn’t let the on-air mishap fly under the radar.
One viewer posted a recording of the mistake to X, formerly Twitter, with the caption, “We’ve all been there… when you’re late, have to run to the meeting and then pretend not to be flustered. Gold medal for this rather brilliant entrance tonight on @BBCLondonNews.”

Soon enough the presenter herself addressed her gaffe.
Posting the clip to her own Instagram account, she wrote, ”If you’re not running to work, are you even trying hard enough?”
Viewers found the entrance hilarious, with many defending Bhandhukravi.

“This really tickled us tonight. Rewound it several times to get the full effect,” said one fan.
“To be fair, that wraparound screen is miles away from the desk,” defended another.
“All part of getting your daily steps in!” one joked.

Bhandhukravi isn’t the first BBC presenter to go viral for an on-air gaffe.
Last year, her colleague Lukwesa Burak accidentally bared her armpits while stretching live on air.
Burak had just bookended a segment with the words “Around the world and across the UK, this is BBC News”, looking forward to a well-needed stretch after a long time sitting perfectly poised behind the news desk.
But a broadcast blunder saw the BBC’s “Across the UK” banner only light up the screen for a couple of seconds before Burak had appeared once again, mid-stretch with her arms up, her armpits on full display.
